The eighth destination of my oversea travels is Vancouver. I went there two years ago, yes, this is the second time. Yousuke Okuma, with whom I'm keeping touch since previous homestay, became a student of The Capilano College and started to live in the down town of Vancouver. I wanted to meet him, hostfamilies, friends, cats .... so I decided to visit Vancouver again. Then, I had wonderful time again. I took a lot of good pictures. Now I'll show them with short comments. |

Yousuke came back to Tokyo during his winter vacation. He and I got together at New Tokyo International Airport (Narita Airport) and left for Vancouver. |

We arrived Vancouver International Airport on time. Yousuke's friend promised to meet us by car, but she didn't come ! So we had to go to Yousuke's house by bus. |
 |
A few hours after we got to Yousuke's house, a woman, who was supposed to meet us at Airport, came to the house. Then we had dinner together. She said to me that the night view from Yousuke's house is very beutiful. Look the left picture, she did not tell a lie. |

Skiing is one of purposes of my travel. This day, I decided to went to Cypress Mountain where I did not visit during previous homestay. Before leaving Yousuke's, I ate 'Ichiban'. |

I took Seabus from the downtown to North Van. Surprisingly it was the first time to take it. Then I got into the shuttle bus for Cypress. |
 |
As soon as I got to Cypress, I started skiing. But snow was wet and heavy, because it was warm winter. So I was dissatisfied with skiing. However, when I went to 'panorama' trail, the view was fantastic. My dissatisfaction has gone. |

At Londsdale Quey, I took the left picture. I wanted to take this pictre, because I could not take the night view of the downtown during previous homestay. I was happy. |

In this morning, I went to The University of British Columbia (UBC) to buy a text book. English text books of astronomy are very expensive in Japan. But I could not find the book that I was looking for. |

Weather was getting fine. The view of Mt.Cypress was very good. |

In afternoon, I visit Bent's house where I did the homestay two years ago. Erica, Keith and cats were fine. The cat of the left picture is George. I stayed here for a couple of days. |

This day was Sunday. I went to Sunday school with Erica & Keith. It was held at The Capilano College. Sunday school is just in school. I met crazy skier, T.C., and cool guys again. |

In afternoon, I visited Akio Soyama, my father's friends' brother. He helps the comminication between North Van. and Chiba city. We had good time. |

This day was a very nice day. So I went running to Deep Cove. |

The left picture was taken with timer. The view was very nice, the breeze was delicious. |

The mountain of the picture is Mt.Seymour. Next day, I went skiing to this mountain. |
 |
After running, I went shopping at downtown. I had to buy 'Maple Tea', which my sister asked me to buy. But Erica & Keith did not know it. I think that 'Maple Tea' is sold in only suveniour shops. |

The left picture is 'Maple Tea'. After I left Vancouver, I tried to drink it. It was very good ! |

The picture is the view of North Van. from the downtown. After taking this picture, I went back to Bent's. |

This day, I went skiing to Mt. Seymour. I had been to Whistler & Blackcomb, Grouse, Cypress and Seymour. I experienced all ski grounds around Vancouver ! |

When I was at the most highest point where I could go by chair lift, I saw a couple of people climbing mountain with ski. I decided to climb, because I love higher place. |

It took half an hour to finish to climb the hill. The view from the top of the mountain was quite beautiful. Then a woman, who got there before me, said , "You made it!". I was very happy. I asked her to take a picture (the first picture of this web page). |

The downhill is dangerous, because I had to go among trees. I went down slowly. |

Because of climbing, I got tired. So I enjoyed crusing ski after that. When I left, I saw beautiful sunset. |

After ski, I had to go back to Yousuke's, because I must leave Vancouver next day. So I tooked a picture with Erica & Keith. I promised them to come back to Vancouver by 2010. |
About an hour after I came back to Yousuke's, suddenly fire alarm began ringing out ! Of couse, we went out soon. But there was no fire. In the morning, I went to a bus stop for the airport with Yousuke and said, "See you".The airplane took off an hour later, but I arrived in Japan with no problem. This trip was very short, but I had very good time. Recently, I don't have money and time, so I cannot go abroad frequently. But I will go traveling as much as I can. |
